Question: Which vendors should I feed at my wedding reception?

Christal says: It is customary to provide a meal for any vendor that has been hired for four hours or more. These vendors usually include coordinators, photographers, videographers, disc jockeys and/or band members. When hiring your wedding vendors, be sure to review their contracts, as specific meal requests may be required. Ask your Caterer for vendor meal options and pricing. Vendor meals should not include alcoholic beverages or décor options, so the cost per person should be less than what you would pay for a wedding guest's meal. Some Caterers will provide a boxed meal, which includes a sandwich, chips, fruit, etc., instead of the entrée that is being served to your guests. If you are serving a buffet meal, wedding vendors can dine from the buffet once all of your guests have eaten. Don't feel like you have to invite your vendors to dine at the guest tables. Most locations provide a separate room for vendors to enjoy their meal during a time that best fits their schedule.

Question: What are some cost-saving alternatives to a sit-down wedding reception?

Christal says: Contrary to popular belief, plated meals do cost less than buffet options, but the time of your wedding should dictate the type of food and beverage that should be served. Consider a daytime wedding with a lunch or brunch menu. For a mid-day wedding, offer cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. If you choose to invite only your immediate family to the ceremony, include an intimate dinner and then invite your friends to join a late night dessert reception.
